The Flicka Foundation provides permanent sanctuary for horses and donkeys who are elderly, ailing or traumatised from cruelty. We also have some pigs, sheep, cows and some small animals – all unwanted and ‘surplus to requirement’.

They stay here for the rest of their days and no animal is ever put to sleep unless there is no other avenue to explore for their well-being. Many come here in the ‘twilight’ years of their lives.

The Flicka Foundation was established in 1995 and since then we have taken in and rescued over 250 animals. Some have come via the RSPCA and South West Equine Protection, while some are cruelty cases brought to our attention by the public or legal avenues. We currently have 37 horses and 24 donkeys.

We are a small sanctuary, covering 30 acres, but we ensure that every animal in our charge has the best care and attention at all times. It is our ambition to have more ‘Flicka’ centres eventually and give refuge to so many horses & donkeys in desperate need of a home where they will live out their days in peace and tranquillity, being loved, as they deserve

We hope you may consider making a donation or adopting one of our ‘residents’.

Our old site is still viewable at this address.

Thank you for visiting our site.
