The Flicka Foundation raises money from various sources; we organise local events, we provide riding lessons, we have two caravans for holiday makers and we offer membership and adoption schemes. We also accept donations!

Adoptions

You can adopt one of our horses for £25 a year, or £3 a month SO. You will receive a Supporter’s Pack including; information booklet, a beautiful certificate with photo of your chosen horse or donkey, a fridge magnet, key ring, car sticker and two previous newsletters. If you chose to do a SO we will also send a Flicka pen!

Turnout Barn Appeal

As you will see we now have a further six donkeys, and if any of the jennies are
expecting….maybe more!!
We have launched the biggest appeal we have ever done, for a large turnout farm
building for the donkeys.
Donkeys originated from Africa and are adapted to marginal desert lands, so the wet
and cold of the UK doesn’t suit them, they hate getting wet, you may have read about
the six newly rescued donkeys have rain scald, the foals are particularly bad.
Our turnout barn will be 15 metres by 30 metres; the donkeys can move and run
around freely without being cooped up in pens and stables during bad weather. If
successful with our appeal we would like to install web cams so you can watch the
donkeys ‘real time’ on your computers.
The ‘barn’ will be cost anything between 35k to 45k, and to kick start our appeal we
have had a pledge from a very kind business man of 12.5k maybe a little more. This
is a fantastic step on the ladder.
Anything you can donate for this project would be great for the donkeys, we have
even something to offer in return – if you pledge or donate the sum of £100 or more,
this would buy approximately 50 concrete blocks for the walls, we would include your
name (or any name of your choice) on a professionally printed wooden board that will
be displayed in the building.
If you, or your business, or perhaps a group of you, raised and pledged £500 or more
we would have a plaque done in polished stainless steel, mirror effect, with the name
of your choice in black plus a coloured infill of your choice (maybe a flower graphic)
this then mounted on wood and displayed at the entrance. These plaques will
measure 8” x 6” wood mounted adding around ½” all around. Perhaps in memory of
someone special? Or as a lasting present for someone?
It is our goal to have such a building up and finished by the middle of 2011, if not
before. We know it’s a huge ask of you, but anything you can do will all help and go
into the ‘Barn Appeal’ so we can allow these donkeys to stay here at Flicka in comfort
and safety.

Stay With Us

We have two static caravans on the site which can each accomodate up to 6 people.  They make a great value holiday in the glorious county of Cornwall. We are just a short drive from Falmouth and the fabulous Cornish attractions, such as the Eden Project. St Michael’s Mount and Land’s End, are a perfect day out while you’re down here. (Webmaster’s note - I hired a caravan via an Ebay auction and after spending time at the foundation, I volunteered to build this website! That’s the effect that Flicka can have on you...)
