September 2008 - Urgent Appeal

Please help us help these five very sad little donkeys from Romania. The Flicka Foundation is stretched beyond capacity, but we had to help in this case. Romania media has been reporting ever increasing animal cruelty and abuse, donkeys fair badly in this agenda, there are also unscrupulous dealers that bring poor, sick donkeys from the continent and sell them in Europe…for a life of misery or dog meat.

These five were incarcerated in the back of a lorry, (deep in muck) we have no idea for how long, but they were unloaded very unceremoniously walking unsteadily and looking very worried.
There is a mother with a foal, these two are in the worst condition, extremely emaciated, dehydrated, covered in sores, overgrown feet…mum has a suspected mouth or tooth abscess, their coats are full of lice and until the vet arrives there is every possibility they have lung worm and fluke. The foal cannot walk properly and his leg is becoming deformed due to untreated feet.

The donkey sanctuary has been informed and a regional welfare officer is travelling to ‘Flicka’ to help and advise.

PLEASE HELP US – WE NEED DONATIONS URGENTLY FOR VET FEES, RUGS, SPECIAL HIGH FIBRE FOOD AND ULTIMATELY A PURPOSE BUILT BARN WITH FACILITY FOR INFRA RED LAMPS. IF WE ARE TO HOME THESE ‘LITTLE PEOPLE’ PERMANENTLY WE NEED YOUR HELP MORE THAN EVER……………

Exhausted from their ordeal – they have probably never had a soft bed or enjoyed fresh clean straw before…….
