Welcome to the website of the Flicka Foundation
The Flicka Foundation provides permanent sanctuary for horses and ponies who are elderly, ailing or traumatised from cruelty. We also have some pigs, sheep and many small animals – all unwanted and ‘surplus to requirement’.
They stay here for the rest of their days and no animal is ever put to sleep unless there is no other avenue to explore for their well-being. Many come here in the ‘twilight’ years of their lives.
The Flicka Foundation was established in 1995 and since then we have taken in and rescued over 80 horses and ponies, along with many other small animals. Some have come via the RSPCA and South West Equine Protection, while some are cruelty cases brought to our attention by the public. We currently have 34 horses and 9 donkeys.
We are a small sanctuary, covering 30 acres, but we ensure that every animal in our charge has the best care and attention at all times. It is our ambition to have more ‘Flicka’ centres eventually and give refuge to so many horses in desperate need of a home where they will live out their days in peace and tranquility, being loved, as they deserve.
.We hope you may consider making a donation or adopting one of our ‘residents’.
Thank you for visiting our site.
